The following thumbnail links will take you to the frames or cards of buttons shown. Most cards allow viewing expanded sub-frame images. The first 12 frames are buttons I assembled in 1965 for my mother. Since I had no knowledge of the NBS Classification System, the design was based on aesthetics only and some buttons are "out-of-place". I intend to address these issues in the future after completing the higher priority work of preservation and mounting loose buttons and re-mounting the buttons on old deteriorating cards.
Frames 13 and up represent the current work in progress to inventory, segregate, and remount buttons from badly deteriorating cards and mount the loose buttons. The flower arrangement (15) and calico dress card (18) are original mountings by my grandmother in the 1940s. As opposed to the 1965 effort, I am now trying to group like buttons according to the classification system even though some different groups may be on the same card. I will appreciate any input from collectors who recognize that I have mischaracterized buttons in a group. Such input, even if it is difficult to tell from the image, will help me in the effort to learn about the buttons. Also appreciated are any comments that identify buttons that are unusual or require special attention for care and preservation purposes.
